Episode Guide
This is a spoiler section,
so if you haven't watched the show (and plan too), DO NOT read any further.
episode 10
aired 10/21/03
synopsis: Ah...the
last episode of the first season.
Unfortunately, not
exactly what I thought of as the most interesting episode to watch...but
it did show the more romantic side of the marriage, which has been somewhat
ignored during the season.
The episode deals
with the surprise visit to San Diego...although surprise isn't the word
one would use, because Nick is flumoxed at every turn. First in a conversation,
someone lets loose to Jessica that Nick is taking her on a surprise trip.
So Nick tries to fool Jessica by saying that she needs to bring her passport.
Poor Jessica can't find her passport because she thinks she misplaced
it. Nick finally gives up and tells her that the passport thing was a
joke to mislead her. And in an unsurprising Jessica maneuver....she finds
her passport while in the front seat of the car....just as they are pulling
out of the driveway.
So they arrive at
the hotel, and Nick makes plans for a romantic dinner in the room (which
of course will be a surprise). They head off toward the race tracks for
some entertainment. And Nick finds out there that the balloon ride has
been cancelled due to high winds. Can we say that Nick has had one heck
of an unlucky day? So Nick told Jessica what the original plan was, and
Jessica was delighted at the length that Nick went to, to plan this spiel.
They agree to take the balloon ride in the morning.
They head off for
a romantic private cruise. And then it's back to their room where once
the door opens, you can see rose petals leading out to the balcony. A
romantic dinner and night indeed.
Season 2: until
next year. The show will tape another 4 months in the lives of Nick and
Jessica. What we do know is that Ashlee Simpson, Jessica's little sister,
will finally be making appearances on the show. Ashlee says she stayed
away from the "Newlyweds" cameras in the show's first season
because she wanted her sister and husband Nick Lachey's show to be "their
thing." She was, however, a regular viewer.
"I watch it all
the time," she says. "I'm very fascinated with it."
And we know that Jessica
will make her college campus tour, including a stop at Harvard. These
tours include performances and a Q&A session. I smell amusement for
next year's viewing pleasure already =)
