Back Home tour (3/2008) (sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk) How can four Irish boys attract attention from such a diverse age range? Young girls and boys on a big night out with their mums and dads, grannies, groups of girls wearing flashing bunny ears and couples of all ages – this was some audience to satisfy. But this is a band who have sold 36 million records worldwide and with 14 UK No 1 singles to date it was unlikely they were going to disappoint. Far from it. The boyband (surely too old for this label) who started as five and became four with the departure of Bryan McFadden, are celebr ating their 10th anniversary tour.
No sitting on stools belting out the hits, the boys were determined to entertain, with slick dance routines, dazzling costume changes, from aviator-style to casual jeans and T-shirts, to sharp white suits and black shirts. Fans were treated to some fun numbers including Don't Blame It On The Sunshine and I'm Your Man with Let Me Entertain You getting the whole Sheffield crowd jumping along and fireworks illuminating the stage. An accoustic session with Kian on guitar demonstrated great vocals and a more mature approach. Numbers from their latest album Back Home, including Us Against The World and Home, were interspersed with old favourites Flying Without Wings and Uptown Girl. You Raise Me Up was the icing on the cake. These boys done good. Missed it? They're back with an added date at the Arena on May 25.
